Blasterati
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
In the vein of Asteroids clones comes yet another clone of the arcade classic. Play through ever-difficult waves of asteroids and enemy ships with updated graphics, a music soundtrack, and even a rare powerup. Try it out with glow effects enabled, found in Settings.
This was originally made in 4 days as part of the 20 Games Challenge for myself.
The game is a mostly faithful adaptation of the arcade original, complete with large and small enemy alien ships. Extra lives are awarded every 10,000 points.
All sound effects were created by me, and the asteroids I made in Blender. Everything else is from public domain sources.
There is a rare-ish powerup called Autofire that you can get when destroying alien ships. This will give you 15 seconds of pure, unadulterated rapid fire action.
Settings
Aside from the usual volume controls and the glow mode, there are a few other settings that might be confusing.
Extra Lives: Instead of starting with 3 lives, you start with 5
Limited Fire: Closer to the original version, you can only fire up to 8 shots at a time.
Controls
Blasterati supports keyboard and game controllers, both with the left analog thumbsticks and D-pads. Both XBox 360 and PS5 controllers were tested and worked well with it.
Keyboard controls:
D/Right Arrow/Keypad 6 - Rotate clockwise
A/Left Arrow/Keypad 4 - Rotate counterclockwise
Space - Fire
W/Up Arrow/Keypad 8 - Thrust
H - Hyperspace
ESC - Pause
